Ben and Mary Love are adorable. A-DOR-ABLE. When they showed up with scrabble in tow to our engagement shoot I (kappel) knew this was gonna be a good one. Ben, who writes Mary Love poems, is not afraid to be a REAL man and show some heart and Mary Love has such a sweetness towards her husband to be. Here's a little snippit into them on their WEDDING WEEK!
So, being in the wedding industry we see lots of photographers, vendors and such. Some are good, some are not so good. We love to pass along people that have blessed us either by working with us or around us.
The Ulmers of Ulmer Studios are no exception. We had so much fun on our engagement shoot with Josh + Amber Ulmer. They have such unique, different eyes. That's only one of the things that sets them apart as photographers. Most of the time a second shooter is hired by a photographer to pick up shots that simply can't be picked up by one person. He or she is usually instructed to "mimic" the hired photographer.
Josh + Amber each shoot their own styles. You can see each style in each photo they take. Neither one tries to "mimic" the others style. This is such a fun way to shoot and be shot because we got so many images that show different aspects of who Lauren and I are.
We shared a meal with them after the shoot and had a marvelous time. They are a talented couple and have great hearts as well! Can't speak more about them as individuals and professionals.

We got a call the other day from a new friend Amber Davis and she proposed to do a free engagement shoot for Lauren and myself. I collect photographs of Lauren so of course I agreed! Many times shoots can be awkward with photographers we don't know very well and honestly, we expected the same. We had such an amazing surprise.
Amber has AMAZING direction skills. She knows exactly how to place couples so that the light hits just right and the frame is perfect. We felt so at home and comfortable despite the 5 a.m. sunrise shoot time we chose.
